Feydeau/Une hache pour briser la mer gelée en nous is an adaptation of Feydeau’s 1908 comedy Occupe-toi d’Amélie, deploying that astounding potential for playing, for action and for theatricality found in Feydeau’s precise, instinctive writing. And who ultimately benefits from this dangerous game, whose only goal seems to be to provoke laughter? Following his production of C’est seulement que je ne veux rien y perdre / La Dispute by Marivaux, stage director Grégoire Strecker pursues his encounters with authors who allow a “liberty of the body”, a freedom that encourages taking action.
